@empressivetv #FatJoe revealed to #Ashanti that Irv Gotti wanted #JenniferLopez to replace her on the “What’s Luv
#FatJoe has been spilling a lot of tea lately. Recently he revealed to #Ashanti that Irv Gotti (who was Ashanti label owner) wanted #JenniferLopez to replace her on the “What’s Luv” record. This is not the first time Irv Gotti tried to snatch Ashanti’s records and give them to Jlo. Ashanti wrote a song called “Rescue” for her album and Irv tried to give it to J Lo...but Ashanti fought against it. Ashanti also wrote and sang the “Ain’t It Funny” remix...and Irv gave the song to J Lo (the shade of it all is J Lo was lip-synching to Ashanti’s vocals). J Lo also lip-synched to Ashanti’s vocals on the “I’m Real” record with #JaRule. The backstory behind the “I’m Real” record is interesting. Irv Gotti revealed on Desus & Mero that the former CEO of Sony Records, Tommy Mottola, heard that #MariahCarey and Ja Rule did a song together called “If We” for her Glitter soundtrack. Tommy wanted to sabotage Mariah’s plans so he told Irv to recreate a duet with Ja Rule and J Lo (that was similar to Mariah’s song). Tommy Mottola was ordering people in the industry to give other artists’ songs to J Lo. Irv Gotti played a role in it by trying to get #Jlo to sing the songs that were meant for Ashanti.
